The 1st Annual Dutton Family Foundation Banquet took place on Saturday, October 9th, and consisted of about 65 people in attendance — an amazing turnout that consisted of family, friends, former players / sensations, program sponsors, and plenty of kids running around!
The Shenandoah facilities have come a long way since the days of stuffy Shingleton Gymnasium, and it was extremely special to spend an evening in the place that, 30 years ago, was nothing more than a “hoop dream” when our family moved to Winchester and our father began his tenure at SU.
Most importantly, we know that our folks were smiling down as they watched a gym full of crazy kids run around, we know that they laughed at a “hospitality room” of friends, old and new, reminiscing on the good ole’ days, and we most certainly know that they cheered along as a spontaneous game of knockout broke out to end the evening.
Lastly, we are happy to announce that funds generated from our Banquet, along with the funds generated from our Golf Tournament, have put us over our goal of raising $10k to support our Foundation and its’ beneficiaries. Therefore, we will be matching that $10k, and all of these contributions will allow us to formally establish scholarships, as planned, at both Handley High School and Shenandoah University.
Again, we are extremely grateful to everyone that has helped us to get to this point, we are overtly thankful to our Foundation’s partners for their support, and we are beyond motivated to keep this thing going!
